The Shrine of Nongae (Uiamsa Temple)

The portrait of Ju Nongae, who sacrificed herself for the nation during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, is housed in this shrine and memorial services are practiced to pay respects to this patriotic heroine.
The former Governor of Jangsu, Jeong Juseok, established the Memorial Stone in order to pay respect to the spirit of fidelity of Ju Nongae and to promote awareness that this patriotic heroine was born in this county. The shrine was established with a fund raised by county citizens in 1955 and moved to the current location in 1974. On the premises are located the Memorial Stone, Memorial Hall, Oesammun Gate, Naesammun Gate, Chunguimun Gate and Yeongjeonggak Pavilion in the said order.
Every 3rd day of September, a memorial service is practiced along with various cultural events at the shrine.
